Cuomo Wants Deer Spotted Roaming Around Harlem Moved To New Habitat
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A white-tail deer that has been roaming around Harlem, will be relocated to a new habitat.
The deer was captured Thursday at the Polo Grounds Towers.
"Over the last day, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation advised the City of New York that there are alternatives to euthanasia that they can consider, including relocation," a spokesperson for Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. "The City has now captured the deer, and Governor Cuomo has directed DEC to offer assistance to the City to transport and find a new habitat for it immediately."
Last week, crowds lined up outside Jackie Robinson Park to get a closer look at the animal.
