NEW YORK -- The Halloween weather forecast can be a mixed bag, with some years seeing the perfect trick-or-treating conditions and others an early taste of winter

As we head into this year's festivities, we have two words for you: Warm and spook-tacular.

In fact, several records are in jeopardy, with highs approaching, if not exceeding, 80 degrees.

As for trick-or treating, temperatures will be in the upper 70s to near 80 Thursday afternoon, then low 70s as the night comes to an end.

Record highs for Halloween?

Temperatures this morning are running very mild and are already above the average daily highs. This will lead to an unseasonably warm day, with highs topping out in the upper 70s and low 80s. Record highs are very possible for what is likely to be the warmest Halloween ever throughout the region.

A decent amount of sunshine will aid with the spike in temps, while a few more clouds will come into play later in day, along with increasingly breezy conditions.

Driest month ever?

Besides breaking records for temperatures, with no rain forecasted Thursday, it is almost certain that October 2024 will go down as not only the driest October ever recorded, but the driest month ever for NYC.

Some showers, that may contain measurable rain,  will return to the region by the early part of Friday. While these showers are welcome, they won't do much to help with the worsening drought within the area.
