Gunfire Claims More Lives In Newark After Violent Thanksgiving Weekend
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Gunfire continues to claim lives in Newark days after a violent Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Elijah Adams, 25, of Union Township was shot near 1st Street and 6th Avenue late Tuesday night, officials said. Adams died at a hospital.
His death came after 38-year-old Ali Sabir was shot and killed on Monday night.
There are no suspects and no arrests have been made in either case.

The shootings come after a violent Thanksgiving holiday weekend in which 11 shootings killed four people and wounded several others in Newark.
On Monday, Mayor Ras Baraka announced expanded police patrols and other measures aimed at reducing violence.
Baraka and his police director, Eugene Venable, outlined a plan effective immediately that includes opening a new police precinct in the Central Ward, increasing patrols in hot spot areas and focusing on investigations into narcotics, which officials said often lead to violent crime.
