Group Wants Liquor Retailers To Ask For 2 I.D.'s
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A community awareness group in Rockland County is pushing for liquor retailers to ask for two forms of I.D. in order to prevent underage drinking.
For some underage drinkers, getting a fake I.D. isn't hard to do, which is why the group "CANDLE" wants to make it tougher for young adults to be sold booze.
Joanne Goodman, executive director of CANDLE, told WCBS 880's Catherine Cioffi it's harder for young people to get two ID's with the same name and information on the document.

"This program is intended to make it just a little bit more difficult for underage drinkers to purchase alcohol products," said Goodman, "Drinking is up. Alcohol is the drug of choice among young people. It's all over."
Goodman told Cioffi something simple like asking for two I.D.'s could save a life.
CANDLE stands for Community Awareness Network for a Drug-Free Life and Environment.
