Group Wants Gun Reform In Connecticut Before Next Newtown Anniversary
HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - There is a push to enact new gun laws to make life safer in Connecticut before a another milestone following the Newtown massacre.
A group pushing for safer gun laws in Connecticut believes it's a common sense issue, one that should not be muddied by politics.
Yet, Po Murray of the Newtown Action Alliance says some Republican lawmakers on the bipartisan legislative task force appear hesitant to sign on for change.

"I think there's a little disconnect in what the people want in Connecticut and what the Republican members on the bipartisan task force is recommending," she said.
Murray noted that a recent Quinnipiac University poll shows overwhelming public support for change.
"People are pretty committed to this issue and I think, after December 14th, everything has changed. It's not the same. People are paying attention to this issue like they've never done before," Murray told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
Murray said her group wants the task force to sign on to the gun safety legislation prior to Thursday, which will mark the third anniversary of the massacre, when 20 students and six educators were killed by Adam Lanza at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
