Group Launches 2-Year Plan To Preserve Long Island Sound
MAMARONECK, N.Y. (WCBS 880) - Looking out on the Long Island Sound in Mamoreneck, as boats sail by and ducks paddle along, it's hard to believe that the scene is anything but perfect.

Still, Save the Sound has launched a two-year action plan to heal the sound.
Program director Kurt Johnson says their plan includes investing in sewage treatment plants so wildlife can thrive in the area.
Citizens Advisory Committee of the Long Island Sound Study's Nancy Seligson says the sound needs a lot of help.
"We need to improve the water quality and we need to improve and restore the areas around the sound," says Seligson.
Her group has teamed up with Save the Sound.
"We want people to be able to swim at all the beaches. We want people to feel comfortable and appreciate what this fabulous resource is in their own backyards," says Seligson.
"One out of ten Americans live within an hour's drive. It is a place of great cultural pride as the place where the regular man can get out on the water, enjoy it," says Johnson.
