Greenwich Residents Protest Planned Cell Tower
GREENWICH, Conn. (WCBS 880) -- Local residents in the Byram section of Greenwich are protesting against the idea of a giant four-carrier cell tower being erected in the neighborhood.

John Bowman said the new Verizon tower would be erected just 150 feet from his house.
The 77-foot-tall tower, camouflaged as a pine tree, would top off at 84 feet--above all the other existing pine trees. He said it would do nothing to enhance property values.
"Nobody is going to want to raise their kid 150 feet away from a four-carrier super cell tower," Bowman said.
The exact location of the new tower would be 36 Ritch Avenue West.
The new tower would replace an existing smaller one which Bohemian says neighbors are perfectly at peace with.
The decision on the Verizon tower lies with the Connecticut Siting Council, which will hear neighbors' concerns later this month at a public hearing. The hearing is March 29 in the Cole Auditorium at the Greenwich Library at 101 West Putnam Ave.
