Governor Cuomo Orders Flags To Half-Staff In Honor Of Fallen Naval Officer
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a directive for flags on all state buildings to be flown at half-staff on Wednesday.
The flags will be lowered in honor of a New York Naval Officer who was killed while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan.
Lieutenant Christopher E Mosko was serving in the Nawa district of the Ghazni province. He was a platoon commander with an Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit that was operating as part of a Joint Special Operations Task Force.
Lt Mosko was from Pittsford, but was stationed in San Diego, CA.
Governor Cuomo expressed sadness over Lt Mosko's death.
"I join with all New Yorkers in mourning the loss of Lieutenant Mosko. We will be forever grateful for the service and sacrifice of this New Yorker. I send my deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and fellow sailors," he said.
