Gov. Paterson Wants NJ, Fed Help For Tappan Zee
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- New York's outgoing governor is reaching across the Hudson with plans to rebuild the Tappan Zee Bridge.
Governor Paterson's proposal calls for New York and New Jersey to seek federal money to pay for repairs to the span.
Both states would then share the Tappan Zee's costs and profits while the Port Authority would oversee the bridge.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's office has not commented on the idea.
The cost to rebuild the Tappan Zee is estimated as high as $16 billion.
