Gov. Murphy Undergoes Surgery To Remove Part Of Kidney
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has undergone surgery Wednesday to remove a tumor.
New Jersey's Lt. Gov. Shelia Oliver described the surgery as "successful" and said Murphy is now resting in a hospital in New York City.
Last month the governor announced he has a tumor on his left kidney.
Doctors are now checking to see if the tumor is cancerous.
Murphy said his prognosis is very good and that he was grateful to his doctors for detecting the tumor early.
Oliver is serving as acting governor until further notice.
