Gov. Christie's Spokesman Testifies Before Federal Grand Jury In 'Bridgegate' Scandal
NEW JERSEY (CBSNewYork) -- A federal grand jury has begun its investigation into the George Washington Bridge scandal.
Gov. Chris Christie's spokesman, Michael Drewniak, was among those who stood in front of the grand jury in Newark.
As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported, Drewniak's attorney confirmed to The Star Ledger that his client did offer testimony, but only as a witness, not as a target of the investigation.

Doug Burns, a former federal prosecutor not involved in the 'Bridgegate' scandal, said the U.S. Attorney's Office likely believes a closer look is warranted.
"It doesn't mean that it's concluded that wrongdoing's taken place by the governor specifically, but they -- certainly in my view -- believed that there was some wrongdoing with respect to the tie-up of lanes, and they wanted to really get to the bottom of it," Burns said.
Burns said the U.S. Attorney's Office likely wants to take a separate look apart from the law firm hired by the governor.
