IRVINGTON, N.J. (AP / CBSNewYork) - Gov. Chris Christie received a friendly reception Thursday at a town hall meeting in an area of the state where he has fewer supporters.

The governor joked that more people showed up for the Irvington event than voted for him in 2009, when only 5 percent - 459 votes - supported him.
Christie was asked most about his proposals to keep violent offenders awaiting trial behind bars without bail and to get nonviolent drug offenders into treatment facilities.
