Gov. Chris Christie On WFAN: Perhaps No VP Run, But GO JETS!
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie quickly touched on the VP issue Friday morning so Tri-State football fans could focus on more important matters.
That's right, we're talking Jets vs. Giants.
Christie wasn't shy about which side he'll be rooting for.
"In tomorrow's game, I just have one thing to say," he told WFAN's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton. "J-E-T-S! Jets, Jets, Jets!"
Listen: Gov. Christie with Boomer & Carton
The entire Christie clan will be on hand Saturday afternoon in East Rutherford. Just like there's bound to be a mix of Jets and Giants fans throughout MetLife Stadium, there will be some degree of dissension in Christie's section.
"My son Patrick is a Giants fan. The rest of the family roots for the Jets," said Christie. "Patrick is often the lone wolf in the Christie household."
Of course Boomer & Carton had to inquire: If Mitt Romney wanted Christie as his GOP vice presidential nominee, would he accept?
"Hey listen, I'm not gonna say what I'll do until I'm actually asked," said Christie. "But I'll tell you this. If you're a betting man ... I would bet on me being Governor of New Jersey in November of 2012 and beyond."
But that wasn't good enough for Carton. He asked that Christie run through a quick role-playing scenario, with Carton acting the part of Romney.
Carton: "Hey Chris, it's Romney. How you doing, babe?"
Christie: "Mitt, good to talk to you again."
Carton: "Thanks for the endorsement, means a lot to me. Listen, you know how the powers that be really want you on the ticket. So I'm officially asking you. Would you be my running mate, kiddo?"
Christie: "You know, listen, Mitt. I love being Governor of New Jersey so go it on your own buddy. You'll be fine. You're gonna win. You're gonna win without me. There's a lot of other good people. I love being Governor of New Jersey."
Back to the important stuff. What's the Governor's prediction for Jets-Giants?
"I think the Jets' offense is going to be able put points on the board against that Giant defense. Everyone puts points on the board against that Giant defense. Even the Redskins," he said.
"27-17, Jets."
