Gotham Gossipist: Nikki Blonsky Will Not Be Selling You Stilettos
By Kimberly Rae Miller
The Internet scratched its collective head this week when reports made their way online alleging that a television and movie actress had transitioned to a retail career on Long Island.
Nikki Blonsky, known for her roles in Hairspray, and more recently in short-lived ABC Family show Huge, was reported to be selling shoes at the high-end Great Neck boutique, Steven Dann.
Can the movie industry really be that bad?
While the store's owner, Steven Dann, said that Blonsky was hawking high tops "two to three days a week dependent on her schedule," Nikki took to Twitter to correct the media frenzy.
"So much false reporting! & false quotes. NO career changing! just experimented 4 a day working @ a friends boutique 2 see what it was like," Blonsky updated in 138 characters.
A second Tweet poked fun at her musical laden career: "NO singing or dancing happened, but it was fun trying something new for a day : )"
People magazine reports that Dann said "Nikki has something enormous coming-up at the end of the summer that will be bigger than Hairspray."
If the first part of his story isn't true, let's at least hope the second part is.
Bummer, I totally would have gotten on the first train to Great Neck to get the celebrity shoe shopping experience.
