Gotham Gossipist: Kris Humphries Attempts Revenge By Filing For Annulment, Claims Fraud
By Kimberly Rae Miller
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Who would have thought that Kris Humphries was a brilliant legal mastermind?
Okay, he's not, but he can still afford to hire some.
Humphries, who had a breakout year with the New Jersey Nets last season, doesn't think a divorce is enough to sever ties with the Kardashian clan. Instead, Humphries is seeking to have his short-lived marriage to the reality starlet annulled.
TMZ reported Thursday that Humphries is basing his claim on fraud, insisting he was just "a pawn" in Kardashian's reality show "plot line."
Kris's plea to a judge to annul the marriage as a fraud may have more to do with the media than personal conviction.
California law states that if the marriage is annulled, so are the confines of the couples prenuptial agreement. According to gossip site RadarOnline.com, the iron-clad pre-nup has some serious confidentiality clauses.
"The confidentiality aspect of the prenup is extensive and was created just in case things went bad, neither Kim nor Kris could discuss their relationship to the media. But now, Kris wants to be able to talk about the relationship without fear of being sued," a source told the site.
That guy will never have to touch a basketball again if he can cash in on all the interviews and book deals to be had from marrying a Kardashian for five minutes.
