Gotham Gossipist: Jersey City Being Considered For New 'Jersey Shore' Season
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- While the Jersey Shore cast finished what was supposed to be their fifth and final season in late 2011, rumor has it MTV isn't quite ready to let go of the cash cow.
They're scouting for a sixth season - and inching closer to New York City.

According to PageSix, the show's producer's think the cast has outgrown Shore life, so they've been in talks with Jersey City officials regarding permits to film there.
The Situation and crew have yet to sign their contracts. If they do, they'll only be a short Path ride away from the Big Apple.

But don't expect any hometown love for the production crew. Governor Chris Christie denied the Snooki squad a $420,000 tax credit for shooting in the Garden State.
In addition to Jersey City, producers for the show are scouting locations in Las Vegas and Los Angeles for the unexpected bonus season.
