Gotham Gossipist: Daniel Radcliffe Feels Bad For Fellow Heartthrob Rob Pattinson

By Kimberly Rae Miller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Harry Potter actor and New York resident Daniel Radcliffe took a little time off from his busy Broadway schedule to show some sympathy for British actor Robert Pattinson recently.

Aw, that's sweet.

The two British-born actors rose to fame around the same time - Pattinson even appeared as the ill-fated Cedric Diggory in the 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' film - but according to Radcliffe their experiences with fame couldn't be more different.

Radcliffe recently told The Hollywood Reporter, "I think he's had to do with kind of a lot more," he said of Pattinson's sudden rise to heartthrob status. "I had a very gradual easing in to the idea of fame, because I was doing the first two films back to back almost. So, while the whole Potter film franchise was exploding, I was in studios filming and kind of unaware that this thing was going massive outside. Whereas Rob, [he] was suddenly the most famous guy in the world. I think that's a lot harder to deal with."

It looks like the Great White Way's new It boy has a pretty realistic outlook on this whole fame thing.

"I'm not going to have this fame forever," he said. "I have it now and it's going to go. There's going to be some other new franchise and some other young new guy. So, you've got to enjoy this stuff while it happens."

And he seems to be doing just that. Radcliffe owns a $5.65 million brownstone on West 12th Street.

Not bad for a 22-year old.
