Gotham Gossipist: Alec Baldwin Leaves Beloved UWS Neighborhood For SoHo Lifestyle

By Kimberly Rae Miller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Fact: Alec Baldwin loves the Upper West Side.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, the actor called his favorite NYC neighborhood "more real" than other parts of the city, stating "I am more comfortable living where it seems more middle class, and I have lived there deliberately."

So why did he turn in the keys to his Central Park West home and buy an apartment in Soho?

Three words: Hot. Yoga. Instructor.

Baldwin changed neighborhoods to accommodate his 27-year-old yogi girlfriend, Hilaria Thomas.

Thomas prefers to live downtown and teaches yoga at the Union Square studio Yoga Vida. And Baldwin, well, he just wants to make her happy.

According to The New York Post, the maybe-mayoral candidate is totally head-over-heels about Hilaria.

"He's really in love," a source told the paper. "He's even met her parents. He sees marriage in the near future."

The two are even to be rumored to be wearing promise rings.  Awww, that's so eighth grade!

Baldwin had been citing his middle class lifestyle on the UWS as a way for voters to relate to him in his upcoming mayoral run.

Not so sure your new SoHo address has that same flare, Alec.  But at least there's great shopping!
