Gotcha! Derek Jeter Acts Under Alias At NYC Starbucks, Calls Himself 'Philip'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter has always valued his privacy. Despite being the most beloved athlete in the biggest market in the country, he's always managed to keep a low profile and stay out of the tabloids.
The future Hall of Famer has never been the focus of controversy.
How, you ask? Nobody is quite sure how the 13-time All-Star has maintained a squeaky-clean image after all these years.
But it appears that the Bronx Bomber will do anything to go unrecognized in the public eye.

In a photo published by the New York Post, Jeter was seen exiting a Greenwich Village Starbucks with the name "Philip" written on his coffee cup. It's possible that one of the baristas misheard the Yankee captain when he placed his order. But more than likely, Jeter offered a bogus name and acted under an alias.
As it turns out, it wouldn't be the first time that Jeter has pulled this kind of stunt.
Back in 2007, thesmokinggun.com published a bill that a group of Yankees used to check into a Seattle hotel, the New York Post reported. Jeter called himself Johnny Drama, while ex-coach Don Mattingly went under the name Bruce Almighty. Retired catcher Jorge Posada's alias was Ricky Ricardo.
The 38-year-old is currently on the 60-day disabled list with an ankle injury. He hasn't played in a single game for the first-place Yankees this season, and is expected to return after the All-Star break.
