It's a job he says he wants.
"I definitely want to be chairman of the Homeland Security Committee," Rep. King told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs. "I'm very hopeful. I've been talking to people in the leadership of the Republican party and right now, it looks very good."
The Congressman says, as chairman, he'll make sure the New York region gets the funding it needs to be safe and he'll keep Washington focused on the issue.
King says, "The further we get from 9/11, the more and more people forget about the horror of that day, especially people in Washington. It's my job to make sure they don't forget."
