GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Perry To Appear On Late Show With David Letterman
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Hopefully, he won't forget his lines.
GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry will be poking fun at himself tonight when he reads the "Top 10 list" on the "Late Show with David Letterman" tonight.
The appearance comes after his stunning gaffe at last night's Republican debate.
Perry appeared to lose his train of thought in the middle of an answer. It was no trick question - he was simply attempting to remember a core part of his platform.
Perry was referring to the agencies he'd eliminate if he was elected when he suffered what might be described as a "brain freeze."
"It's three agencies of government when I get there that are gone," Perry said to Ron Paul. "Commerce, education, and... uh... let's see, what's the third one there."
At first, prompted by someone, he said it was the EPA. Then he retracted that.
"But you can't name the third one?" he was asked by the moderator.
Perry continued to stammer, repeating "Education, the, uh, commerce," and ultimately saying "I can't. The third one. I can't. I'm sorry."
The answer he was struggling for was the Energy Department.

Perry's performance was considered stunning by political observers and was the talk of the 2012 presidential campaign today.
