Google: A-Rod Most-Searched MLB Player Of 2013
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The most-searched Major League Baseball player this year was -- drum roll, please -- Alex Rodriguez!

The guy most baseball fans love to hate topped the list for 2013, according to Google, with two more Bronx Bombers cracking the top 10.
It's been quite the year for A-Rod, who underwent offseason hip surgery Jan. 16 and was named in the Miami New Times' bombshell Biogenesis report before the month was through. What followed was months of sensational headlines, denials and accusatory statements.
Rodriguez was suspended 211 games under the league's PED policy on Aug. 5, the same day as his season debut in Chicago. A decision on his appeal, which had its share of surreal moments, isn't expected until January.

Yankees captain Derek Jeter, who was limited to just 17 games due to injury, was the fifth-most-searched baseball player. Legendary New York closer Mariano Rivera came in at No. 6 fresh off his retirement tour.
The rest of the list: Miguel Cabrera (2), Bryce Harper (3), Yasiel Puig (4), Chris Davis (7), David Ortiz (8), Brian Wilson (9), Ryan Braun (10).
No MLB players made the top 10 in overall athlete searches, according to Google. Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, facing first-degree murder and gun charges in the shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, topped that list.
