Golden, Malliotakis Want Increased Penalties For Child Predators

Sen. Martin Golden and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis want to increase the penalties for predators who attempt to lure or entice a child into a vehicle, a building or by using a computer.

Right now if convicted, a person faces only a misdemeanor penalty and likely no jail time. If this bill passes, it would be a felony with up to seven years in prison.

Golden said this type of crime is a sad reality for the Tri-State area.

Kletzky had become lost while on his way to meet his mother after leaving a day camp in July. Police said Levi Aron picked up the boy, took him back to his apartment, then killed and dismembered him.

What do you think the penalty for this type of crime should be? Sound off in the comments section below!
