Golden Globes Kick Off 2017 Awards Season
BEVERLY HILLS, CA (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Stars arriving at Sunday's Golden Globes were met with brilliant sunshine -- the clearest and warmest afternoon in Los Angeles in many days.
A clear plastic rain cover over the red carpet proved entirely unnecessary, and only heightened the heat that was in the upper 70s. Rains that have soaked much of California and might have dampened Sunday's festivities are now not expected to arrive until hours after the show is over.

Award season kicked off Sunday with the Golden Globes, with several major productions are facing off for top nods ahead of the Oscars.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson won the first award of the evening, snagging the best supporting actor prize for his role in "Nocturnal Animals."
With seven nominations, "La La Land" led the pack on the motion picture front. The musical starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling was nominated for "Best Musical or Comedy."
"Moonlight," a gritty, coming-of age film, had six nominations, including one for "Best Drama."
In television, "The People vs. O.J. Simpson," garnered five nominations. HBO's "Game of Thrones" had also received top nods, with a nomination for "Best Drama Series." The fantasy series will face off against Netflix hit "Stranger Things," "This Is Us," and HBO's "Westworld."
