NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Rudy Giuliani isn't just a baseball guy.

The former mayor of New York City was spotted in the Jets' locker room following Sunday's 37-27 win, along with Mitt Romney and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The power trio attended the game presumably as guests of team owner Woody Johnson, a well-known backer of the Republican Party.

"I made it a point for myself to walk over there and say hello to them, especially Mayor Giuliani," Jets backup quarterback Matt Simms said, according to ESPN. "He was the mayor during a lot of tough times in NYC and I truly appreciate it because I grew up with all those situations because I always looked up to him as a high-profile figure."

It didn't take long for photos of Giuliani, Cheney and Romney at MetLife Stadium to make the rounds on Twitter. Giuliani was also seen in the background of a locker-room video on the Jets' official website.

When asked on Bloomberg TV last year to rank a winning season for the Jets against a victorious presidential campaign for Romney, who would later lose to incumbent Barack Obama, Johnson didn't hesitate: "I think you always have to put country first. So I think it's very, very important — not only for us, but for our kids and grandkids — that this election come off with Mitt Romney and (Paul) Ryan as president and vice president."

The Jets -- finishing well below .500 in 2012 -- improved to 6-7 following Sunday's victory over the Oakland Raiders.
