Girardi Answers Questions About Last Season And What To Expect In 2012
NEW YORK (WFAN) - Yankees manager Joe Girardi joined Mike Francesa for an hour on Thursday to give his thoughts on the highs and lows of last season and offer some insight into how the Yankees will approach the offseason.

On getting over a playoff exit:
"You get beyond it once the season completely ends, when there's no baseball on TV," said
Girardi. "Because when you're watching the next round or you're watching the World Series, you're
thinking about, 'Man that could have been us. That could have been us.'"
On the Yankees' season in 2011:
"We had a lot of great things happen, whether it was Derek Jeter's 3000th hit, Mariano Rivera
breaking the all-time saves record," he said. "We had a lot of young players step up. It was very
disappointing for me that we didn't accomplish what we wanted to this year. I thought this was a
special group of guys that really found ways to overcome things."
On Jorge Posada:
"There was a bond between Jorge and I. I mean, I will always love Jorge because of what we went
through as catchers and how we made each other better," said Girardi. "It was hard for me to
watch what he was going through this year."
On if he considered benching A-Rod in postseason:
"No, I didn't," he said. "I think he was beat up. I don't necessarily think he was hurt. I don't
think he was 100 percent, probably like a lot of our other players."
