Giants WR Victor Cruz Admits He's In Talks To Land Reality TV Show
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- He doesn't have a long-term contract with the Giants and he hasn't shown up at OTAs.
But Victor Cruz has his eyes on something entirely different -- a reality television show.
The wide receiver told the New York Daily News that he's currently in talks to land a television series.
"It is going to be something that is very unique to me and very unique to what I like, and like to do," the 26-year-old told the newspaper. "We are still fielding some requests, so we will see how it goes — the timing has to be right, and I have got to squeeze in some training in there before the season starts."
Victor Cruz Is Lookin' To Branch Out
The 2012 Pro Bowler said that after watching Nets power forward Kris Humphries' disastrous experience with reality television -- he appeared on "Keeping up with the Kardashians" alongside then-wife Kim Kardashian -- he learned that he has to be careful.
"I definitely want it to be my show," he said. "My own thing, something that I can contribute to and something I like to do; (something) I can be comfortable with, and an easy show, something people like to watch and that people can be in tune with on a daily basis."
But before you get sick to your stomachs, Big Blue fans, the playmaker added that his top priority is leading his team to another Super Bowl.
"We understand the Super Bowl is in New York City, and that is motivation for us," Cruz told the New York Daily News. "We have got to be ready to go."
Cruz was assigned a first-round tender by New York this offseason but received no bites as a restricted free agent.
The Paterson, N.J., native "apparently lowered his demands" from the $10-million-neighborhood to around $8 million annually, according to the newspaper.
Giants co-owner John Mara has repeatedly said that he believes a deal will get done at some point.
The third-year player caught 86 passes for 1,092 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Giants in 2012.
