Giants Legend Harry Carson Mulling Run For Congress In NJ
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — House Democrats are recruiting Giants Hall of Famer Harry Carson to run for Congress in the Garden State.
A congressional source told The Associated Press that the legendary linebacker would challenge five-term Republican Rep. Scott Garrett in New Jersey's 5th Congressional District.
The 58-year-old Carson told the AP that he's interested, but didn't say much more on the subject. Carson, who is in Hawaii for a family vacation, said he might be able to expand on a possible House run in the next week or two.
He said the trip gives him a chance to think about his future and whether he enters politics.
Since retiring in 1988, Carson has worked as a broadcaster, written two books and focused on concussions in sports.
"After the Super Bowl, I probably will have an announcement one way or another," Carson, a South Carolina native, recently told the Charleston Post and Courier.
