Giant Rubik's Cube Being Towed Along Hudson River

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Don't worry, you're not seeing things...that is indeed a giant Rubik's Cube floating along the Hudson River.

A tugboat is towing a giant inflatable Rubik's Cube near the Statue of Liberty, lower Manhattan and State Island Friday in honor of the creator's birthday. Hungarian architecture professor and inventor Erno Rubik turns 70 on Sunday.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the confounding puzzle.

The Rubik's Cube is the subject of a special exhibit at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City.

The exhibit includes a robot that solves the Rubik's Cube in one minute — and does a victory dance afterward. It also includes a "Solve Bar," which photographs the cubes of players and then shows them how to solve them.

"Beyond Rubik's Cube'' premiered in April and is scheduled to run through November.
