Giancarlo Rindone Of Bensonhurst Prepares For West Point Graduation
WEST POINT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Among those cadets who will become second lieutenants at the United States Military Academy's graduation ceremony on Saturday is a Brooklyn boy.
For Giancarlo Rindone, going to West Point was a way to say thank you.
"I'm a first generation Italian-American and I want to give back to the country for all the opportunities they've given to my family," he told WCBS 880 reporter Peter Haskell.

West Point is certainly not for everyone and that's why he is so proud.
"Not a lot of people can step up to this challenge and I thought I was strong enough and this is the best way I can serve my country," he said.
Armed with a civil engineering degree, the Bensonhurst resident will be joining a combat unit.
"It's because I want to be the guy that people look up to and come to when they need help," he said. "I'm the go-to guy for an infantry unit."
This is his dream.
"This is it. This is the job I want to do for the rest of my life," he said.
Rindone added that graduation is bittersweet.
