Gas Prices Lower Than This Time Last Year
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - The cost of a summer drive is down from the same time last year.
Although gas prices have nudged up a few cents in the past week, the average price of a gallon of regular, $3.78 on Long Island, is actually about $0.21 less heading into this Memorial Day weekend than this time a year ago.
Motorists like Willie the limo driver have noticed.
"I love it, you know. It would be more money for me to bring home," he told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.

Some of the experts credit strong gas supplies and refinery output for the lower prices.
Others say a shift in driver behavior to more fuel efficient vehicles is part of the reason.
Whatever is behind it, one drive said it's all good.
