Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation At Princeton University
PRINCETON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Several hundred people were evacuated from 11 Princeton University buildings Monday because of a gas leak.
University spokesman Martin Mbugua said a backhoe struck a gas line near McCosh Health Center just before 10 a.m. Monday.
The gas was later turned off and a team from Princeton Fire Department, the University's Department of Public Safety and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety checked the evacuated buildings.
All buildings were cleared for occupation at 12:40 p.m., according to a university spokesman.
No injuries were reported.
