Funeral for slain Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour held in Newark
NEWARK, N.J. -- The funeral for Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour, who was shot and killed last month, was held Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church in Newark.
Dwumfour was found dead in a car near her home on Feb. 1. No arrests have been made.

The 30-year-old Republican was first elected to office in 2021 and was considered a rising political star.
Her 12-year-old daughter spoke at Saturday's service, saying she can't believe her best friend is gone.
"Mom, I am eternally grateful for your love and dedication and perseverance. Despite the difficult times that you faced, I know you're looking down on me as a beautiful, sweet angel with a great smile," she said.
Dwumfour was buried shortly after the service at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.
