Brendan Moore, 2, and Connor Moore, 4, were with their mother Glenda Moore last Monday heading down Father Capodanno Boulevard in Staten Island in at attempt to flee during the height of Hurricane Sandy.
Moore's SUV hit a tree and stalled. Moore was then clinging to life — hanging on to a railing — when a surge of water came up and took Connor and Brendan right out of her arms, CBS 2's Emily Smith reported.
Moore then knocked on a man's door for help but he reportedly turned her away. Their bodies were found last Thursday in a wooded marsh.
Moore is married to city sanitation worker Damien Moore, who was working during the storm. City sanitation workers carried the casket up the steps of the church, 1010 WINS' Juliet Papa reported.
The funeral was held at St. Rose of Lima Church in Kensington.
Both boys were buried together in one coffin.
