Monday would have been Ray Ferguson's 46th birthday.

To remember his classmate, who was murdered on Father's Day at the Haven Drugs pharmacy in Medford, Joseph Cipri said scholarship money was being raised so students could attend the St. Francis Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows, Queens.

"Well, we called him "Sugar Ray" in high school. So, he was the sweetest guy, always smiling. Brilliant in biology, in chemistry. Just a really sweet guy," Cipri told WCBS 880 reporter Monica Miller.

The Applebee's restaurant in Ferguson's hometown of Patchogue is also donating 10 percent of each bill to the scholarship fund until 10 p.m. Monday night. The restaurant is located at 499 North Service Road, Patchogue, NY 11772.

Donations can also be made directly through the school at 6100 Francis Lewis Boulevard, Fresh Meadows, NY 11365.

David Laffer has been charged with first-degree murder in the case and his wife, Melinda Brady, faces a first-degree robbery charge.
