Report: Friday Night Violence Spills Over Into Early Hours Of Saturday Morning
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A series of shootings and stabbings rocked New York City on Friday night and the early hours of Saturday morning. Two people were killed and eight were injured in Manhattan, the Bronx, and on Staten Island.
An 18-year-old man was killed in a shooting on the Lower East Side, The Daily News reported.
Deontay Moore was hanging out with a group of friends outside of the Jacob Riis houses on Avenue D when a pair of suspects cruised past the group and squeezed off a series of shots, witnesses said.
Moore was hit in the face and died of his injuries on Saturday afternoon.
Shortly after midnight a man was stabbed on W 112th St in Harlem, The Daily News reported, he was expected to survive. Another man was stabbed in the arm on E 182nd Street in the Bronx, he was treated for his injuries at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
The stabbing was not the end of the violence in the Bronx as a 20-year-old man was shot in the face in the Fishbay section, he was expected to survive, according to the Daily News. Another man was shot in the back and the chest on Tinton Ave in the Woodstock section of the Bronx, he was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
Police were also investigating a stabbing on the West Side of Manhattan after two victims were hospitalized in stable condition following a brawl on 11th Ave near West 30th Street shortly before 4:30 a.m.
Park Hill Ave in Clifton, Staten Island was the scene of another fatal shooting. Victorious Briggs, 22, was killed and a 26-year-old woman was wounded when a gunman opened fire at 4:30 on Saturday morning.
No arrests have been made in any of these incidents.
