Four More NJ Transit Rail Lines To Return To Service On Sunday
TRENTON, NJ(CBSNewYork) -- The Christie administration announced that four additional rail lines will resume service on Sunday morning. Northeast Corridor trains began running to Penn Station on Friday morning.
Four train lines will restore service on Sunday after suffering significant amounts of damage during Hurricane Sandy.
The North Jersey Coast Line will resume limited service between Woodbridge and New York Penn Station. The Raritan Valley Line will resume limited service between Raritan and Newark Penn Station. The Main/Port Jervis Line will resume limited service with trains originating and terminating in Secaucus, and the Atlantic City Line will resume normal service between Atlantic City and Philadelphia.
NJ Transit has provided special schedules detailing restored service.
Transportation Commissioner and NJ Transit Board Chairman James Simpson called the restoration of a service, "an important milestone."
"These announcements mark important milestones in NJ Transit's ongoing recovery efforts. While this is great news for our customers, the road to recovery continues. NJ Transit crews continue working around the clock to restore service for our customers," he said.
