Former Gov. Paterson Takes Post With Job Recruitment Firm
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Former New York State Gov. David Paterson has taken on a new post with a company that aims to streamline job recruiting.
Paterson will be the chief jobs officer for the Job Channel Network. Parent company Jasper Group Holdings Inc. announced Paterson's new role Monday.
Paterson said in a statement that he has seen from both public and private life that people from all backgrounds share the need for a job.
Chief executive officer Michael Woloshin said Job Channel Network's new online platform lets a hiring manager review a résumé and book an interview with a click of a button, among other functions. The company also sets out to create and distribute video and audio pieces presenting companies to prospective employees.
Paterson became governor after Eliot Spitzer's 2008 resignation and served until 2010.
He ended a bid for reelection after facing several scandals.
Notably in 2011, he was accused by the Commission on Public Integrity with violating ethics regulations for allegedly lying about taking free Yankees tickets for the 2009 World Series while he was in office. The commission charged in a 2011 report that Paterson violated ethics laws when he contradicted his staff, the Yankees and common sense by falsely claiming he always intended to pay for the tickets. The commission fined him $62,125.
Paterson did not face any charges.
