Former Gov. David Paterson Splits With Wife

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - Former New York Gov. David Paterson and his wife Michelle Paige Paterson have announced that they have separated.

A representative said the couple's decision was "mutual and amicable."

The couple's relationship was in the public eye from the day he took office in 2008, when each admitted to having affairs.

Paterson assumed office as governor after a sex scandal forced the resignation of Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
