Former Dean Of New Rochelle School Pleads Guilty To Sex Act With Boy
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) -- The former dean of a New York middle school has pleaded guilty to a criminal sex act with a 14-year-old boy.
Under terms of Wednesday's plea, 38-year-old Jose Martinez of Brentwood is to be sentenced to six months in jail and 10 years of probation.
He must register as a sex offender.
Prosecutors said Martinez was administrative dean of Isaac E. Young Middle School in New Rochelle when he engaged in misconduct with the boy in 2010. He was later promoted to principal at an elementary school but resigned just before being arrested in March.
At the time, the schools superintendent said Martinez passed a criminal fingerprinting check before he was hired in 2007. He said there was no record of complaints from students or staff.
