For Some Marine Park Residents, Barking Duo Is Just Too Much To Handle
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Joseph Butrico thinks that the whole thing is ridiculous.
He received several warnings and then a $70 fine because of his dogs' barking.
His dog is a nine-year-old German Shepherd named Maxwell. Butrico told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria that Maxwell does what a dog is supposed to do -- bark!

"(He barks) when he sees another dog, or if somebody is near the driveway that he doesn't know," Butrico said. "Otherwise, he's quiet."
Maxwell didn't make much noise for D'Auria when she visited him -- he barked just twice in front of her, to be exact -- but to other residents on East 36th Street in Marine Park, Brooklyn, the barking is just too much.
Butrico's next-door neighbor, Ann Winters, has a five-year-old Beauceron named Buddy. She received a summons, too.
When both dogs are in the backyard at the same time, neighbors find that the barking can be incessant and excessively rough.
Though Butrico wasn't pleased with the fine, he said that the money isn't the issue.
"That's what the dog is here for, to bark," Butrico said. "Otherwise, if it wasn't for the dog, my house might be a target for robbery, right?"
