Food Bank For Westchester Moves Into Much Larger Space In Elmsford
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - The Food Bank for Westchester has just expanded in order to serve even more people.

They have moved into a renovated 37,000-square-foot warehouse in Elmsford, WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported. The ribbon cutting was Wednesday morning.
"We estimate that there are over 200,000 people in Westchester who could use our assistance. We don't reach all of them." Executive Director Christina Rohatynskyj told Adams. "There's a great need for working people... With the economy, the high cost of living in Westchester, it all bundles together."
Rohatynskyj said one percent of that population is homeless; while the food bank said that demand for emergency food has increased 45 percent over the last three years.
The new space is like a small Home Depot, with three-story shelving packed with pallets. The freezer alone is 5,000 square feet - large enough for a hockey game, Adams reported.
It was made possible, in part, by a $750,000 matching grant from philanthropist Pat Lanza of Eastchester.
