Following Defeat, Tom Suozzi Left To Figure Out Future Plans
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Republican Ed Mangano won re-election as Nassau County Executive Tuesday night, beating out Democratic rival Tom Suozzi for a second time.
But as WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported, don't count Suozzi out for future political runs.
The Democrat enjoyed a string of early political victories as mayor of Glen Cove and Nassau County Executive.

But Suozzi has now suffered three straight losses, two for county executive and one for the Democratic nomination for governor.
On Tuesday before the polls closed, Suozzi was asked whether he's done seeking elected office.
"I'll always be involved in public service but I'll figure out what I'm going to be doing on the day after this election," Suozzi told Xirinachs.

As of Wednesday morning, Suozzi so far hasn't said what his plans are for the future.
But in his concession speech Tuesday night, there were hints that he wasn't ready to hang it up just yet.
"We still have to grow for the future, we still have to try and bring our children back home and I'm committed to continuing to work to try and help to address those issues," Suozzi said Tuesday night.
As Xirinachs reported, Suozzi has a background in law and finance and a long history of public service, which makes him uniquely qualified to serve.
