Flyovers Planned For New York City Air Force Week
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - There will be military flyovers through Tuesday, as part of 2012 Air Force Week NYC, starting Saturday afternoon.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will conduct practice formations along the Hudson River Saturday afternoon from 3:40 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. The F-16D fighter jets will only be about 1,000 feet up.
After the Hudson flyover, the jets will conduct a flyover over Yankee Stadium ahead of their game against the Red Sox.
On Sunday around 1 p.m., the F-16Ds will fly over the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony for Air Force Week NYC.
The Mets will get a flyover on Monday evening, ahead of their game against the Colorado Rockies. And on Tuesday, the military jets will conduct a flyover ahead of the Brooklyn Cyclones game.
All flyovers are weather-permitting, and all local airports have been notified.
