Flying Squirrel Invades New Jersey Emergency Room
RAHWAY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- There was a wild scene inside the emergency room at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway on Tuesday.
A grayish-brown flying squirrel became trapped in a trauma room around 10 p.m.
Officials said the animal kept launching itself from an 8-foot-high, wall-mounted lamp into a glass wall in desperate attempts to evade firefighters.
Eventually, firefighters caught the squirrel with a blanket and released it into nearby woods.
This is the second time in two weeks a flying squirrel found itself in the emergency room.
