Flight From JFK Diverted To St. Louis
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - With security a top concern following the 10th anniversary of 9/11, and there's been another incident in the air that prompted a response.
A US Airways flight bound for Phoenix was diverted to St. Louis.
Flight 457 took off from John F. Kennedy International Airport.
So far, there's no word on what it was about three passengers that made the crew consider their behavior suspicious, however, investigators determined there was no terrorism involved in the incident.
The plane landed at Lambert Airport around 8 a.m. without incident.
All 128 passengers were re-screened, the plane was checked and the plane took off for Phoenix a little over two hours later.
Lambert Airport officials say the three men were interviewed by federal authorities then released.
Over the weekend, two flights were escorted by F-16 fighter jets due to security concerns, but no charges were filed in either case.
Meanwhile here in New York City, ramped up security measures including vehicle checkpoints and backpack checkpoints in subways will remain in place through the week, if not longer.
