Brooklyn Cyclones Try To Break First Pitch World Record

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Brooklyn Cyclones will attempt to break a Guinness World Record at MCU Park.

Spokesman Bill Harner said 150 FDNY members will simultaneously throw out the first pitch before Friday night's game.

"We looked up a world record for first pitches, found out it was 111,  and we said why not just try to blow it out of the water and tie it in with the FDNY and bring out 150 of their representatives," Harner told 1010 WINS.

Fans will also get a chance to be a part of history.

"We're going to try to get 150 fans that'll catch the 150 first pitches," Harner said. "We're asking anybody that's coming to the game tonight, if you're interested, to get here early and we'll line you up and bring you out into the field."

The event is scheduled for 6:20 p.m. followed by the Cyclones playing the Batavia Muckdogs.
