Fireworks Blamed For Scare That Caused Lockdown At New Rochelle High School
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Fireworks have been blamed for a scare that included a school lockdown in New Rochelle on Thursday morning.
Police swarmed the area around the high school after several people said that they heard gunfire.
Witnesses thought somebody was firing a gun in the yard of a nearby house.
One person even claimed to have seen a man with a rifle.
In the end officers discovered that a 16-year-old had allegedly been setting off illegal fireworks at his house. So far he is not facing any charges.
The school lockdown lasted 3 hours.
