Firefighters Sent To Penn Station For Smoke Condition
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Firefighters were sent to Penn Station late Wednesday afternoon, after smoke filled an electrical room.
The FDNY told CBS2 crews responded around 5:30 p.m. to the transit depot, due to a smoke condition in an electrical room on the concourse level.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said the smoke was at Track 19 at the station, which is a shared track but is used primarily for the Long Island Rail Road.
The west end of the concourse, which is part of the LIRR, was shut down, the MTA said. Trains were directed to other tracks, and there were no delays, the MTA said.
The cause of the smoke condition was not immediately learned.
