Firefighters From LA Ride To NYC For 9/11, Raise Money For Charity
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A group of firefighters from Los Angeles have arrived in New York City for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. It took them 45 days to get to New York via motorcycle while raising thousands of dollars for firefighters and wounded soldiers

Los Angeles firefighter George Ostrovsky says he felt like many Americans on 9/11.
"I stood by, ten years ago, staring at a television set like most people in the country and there's that helpless feeling of not being able to do anything," he said.
The heroic actions of the FDNY inspired him and nine other LA firefighters to ride across the country for charity.
"All I really did is ride my bike across the country. More than anything else, just bring awareness to them, just solidarity," said Ostrovsky. "We want to let New Yorkers know that the left coast hasn't forgotten about them."
The bikers took Route 66 to Chicago. They then headed to the site of the United Flight 93 crash in Shanksville, Penn. They continued on to Washington, D.C. before heading to New York City.
The group has raised $40,000 for actor Dennis Leary's Firefighter Foundation and Wounded Warriors Project.
